Pizzazz for School- Folder Labels

Well, my babies are no longer babies.
I've had to accept that as my girl Boom starts 10th grade next week and Mr Awesome begins his first day in middle school... Oh My!  He visited the new school yesterday and had a chance to get used to opening a locker and following a schedule where he will change classes 6 times a day... Wanting to provide all of the tools he will need for a successful year, we purchased the crazy calculator and zippered binder with folders as suggested.  Organization is key, right?  He is growing up fast, so the childish {his thoughts, not mine} images of Cars and Spiderman on folders and notebooks just will not do this year... but I wanted his school items to have some sort of personality, they were just so black and plain... did I mention how plain they were?

Enter... the Silhouette Cameo to add Pizazz to those Stinkers!

We took his schedule and figured out all of the classes he will have, in the order he has them for the first semester and entered the text into the Cameo design studio.  We chose a font called "It's a Penalty Kick" which was big and easy to read.

From the Silhouette online store, {a while back} I had purchased a half price Tribal design and added it to each end of the class name text.  After measuring the width of the folders, we resized each label to just under 8 1/2 inches wide and just about 2 inches in height, making sure to flip the Tribal image at the end of each word.  Using white vinyl, we loaded out machine and cut the images.

Using transfer paper, I carefully lifted each label from the vinyl backing,

then transferred the cut label to the front bottom of each black folder, making sure to smooth and press them securely.

Here's to an exciting and well organized year in the middle school, Mr Awesome!  Wonder if the school will let me vinyl-ize the lockers too... doubt it, but oh that would be fun!

Just a reminder:

There is still time to enter to win $75 in ThirtyOne Gift Totes from Tiaras and Bowties and Independant Consultant, Kristin Byars- {here}.   There are low entries, so chances of winning are pretty good peeps!  Tip Toe thru Tuesday is still open, I'd love for you to link up what you've been working on!
