Happy 4th of July

The 4th has always been one of my favorite holidays for some reason... as a child we took vacation over the holiday to visit family in Virginia... swimming, fun, and carnivals, oh my!

As I sit here today, I think of my sweet nephew Darryn who made the choice to enter the Air Force.
Last week we were very proud and happy to congratulate him on his graduation from boot camp.
He is missed sincerely, and the thought of him being so very far from home in Texas made me cry at the mere mention of him name...

Introducing our Airman

We all had the opportunity to talk with him on the phone yesterday and he sounds great.
As Darryn now takes the next step in his life journey in Virginia for more training I realize it's so hard to put into words how I feel... both here and on the phone with him last night.

He left us as a boy in many ways.
Our Airman will now return a man.

Upon my sister's return from Graduation she said to me,
"He's changed... he is so different now."

He is now a man with direction who will have life experiences that the typical civilian will never know, understand, or experience.

So today, the 4th of July,
Independence Day,
will always have true sentimental meaning to me.

A new found respect for all of the men and women serving our Country.

It is not only about picnics and food

Fireworks

and carnivals.

As you celebrate today, please stop a moment to say a prayer for those who have made the sacrifice!
